Website Overview

We designed Jalen's site with his unique and distinct goals in mind. Jalen wanted to stress the multi-faceted persona he has grown into following his time on the court. While the hardwood background alludes to his time on the court and the custom designed crest has a sports feel, the site is not overwhelmingly sports branded and anyone landing on JalenRose.com for the first time would not immediately assume he is or was an athlete. The three-column layout allows us to place his content (e.g. articles, videos) front and center, and to highlight his initiatives on and offline on the left and right.

Highlighting Social Media

Jalen's online focus is on his social media presence, and we wanted his website to showcase that primarily. First, there are four clickable buttons on the headers of each tab on JalenRose.com. We placed them above the fold as a constant reminder to the visitor. On the left column, we have a box for Jalen's Twitter, Youtube, and Facebook accounts. The customized Facebook fan box highlights Jalen's recently posted content and allows visitors to become a fan of Jalen with one click of the button. On the right column, we featured Jalen's Ustream channel.

Crest Branding

Every brand has a logo or image they are known for, and for personal brands this is usually the individual's face. For Jalen we wanted to do something a little special and took some inspiration from Tiger Woods, whose TW logo strengthens his (already massive) brand. With Jalen, we wanted to create a logo that fans of his would start to know him by, so we painstakingly created the JR crest, which we consistently branded on his other online platforms and which he is now using on t-shirts and other promotional materials.

Customized Headers

Each tab (Home, About JR, Philanthropy, etc) has its own custom header. Jalen had a number of solid, high quality images on hand and we used some of the best of them to highlight his range and present the user with a slightly different experience on each tab. While the imagery was changing to match the content of each tab, we took care to maintain the same overall design and feel so as not to confuse the user.

We've executed several online initiatives to help extend their brand on the web. Gary Clientglow Gary Vaynerchuk Co-founder of Vaynermedia, host of Wine Library TV, and best-selling author are just a few of the ways to describe Gary. His experience building both his personal brand and his family's wine business, Wine Library, has made him a leading voice on social media and business. These are products made by mothers, for mothers. Babbaco was founded by Jessica Kim, a mother of two, who (along with her beautiful children) also doubles as the face of the brand. Jalenrose Clientglow Jalen Rose A member of one of the most prolific college basketball teams ever, a thirteen year NBA veteran, and a current ESPN analyst, Jalen Rose has always been known for his time on the court. Jalen wanted to utilize his growing online presence to extend and diversify his brand away from basketball.
